Started with a very small protest and spread out across the entire country, finally leading to the government stepping down. The power and unity of the students once again proved that no one can control the lives or rights of ordinary people.
Beginning at the start of July, the initial demand of the protesters was to reform the job quota system in Bangladesh. However, the existing government was initially very insincere about it. As the protest grew larger, they became furious and started using armed force against the protesters, which made the situation worse. The protest spread all over the country, with many students being shot to death by the ruling party and a huge number injured.
Eventually, it became a national crisis, and the whole nation began demanding the resignation of the government and the prime minister. People of all ages from across the country joined the students in their protest.
Finally, the ruling party failed to meet the demands and had to step down. However, this protest came at a great cost. Approximately 450 people died, 30,000 were wounded, and an enormous number of police cases were filed.
This web page is a symbol of remembrance for those martyrs who lost their lives in the fight for their rightful demands.
